What is this type of visa?
This visa is for foreigners who can work remotely, without the need to be in the office. The law decree of January 22, 2022, added a comma to the Article 27 of the TUI (Testo Unico sull’Immigrazione) specifically for remote workers.
How can I apply for this type of visa? Is it subject to the Decreto Flussi quota?
No, this type of visa is not subject to any quota. If you meet all the requirements, you can apply directly at the Italian Embassy or Consulate in your country.
What are the requirements?
The applicant must:
- Prove to be a highly skilled worker, meeting the same requirements as for the EU Blue Card, as stated in Article 27-quater, comma 1 of the TUI.
- Have a minimum annual income at least three times the minimum level (€8,500) required for exemption from participation in public healthcare costs. Paychecks and bank statements must be provided as proof.
- Have valid health insurance.
- Provide flight tickets.
- Possess a valid passport.
- Provide recent passport-sized photographs.
- Have a suitable accommodation. A registered rental contract must be submitted, hotel or B&B bookings are not accepted.
- Have at least 6 months of experience as a digital nomad or remote worker.
Additional documents for remote workers include:
- An employment contract, collaboration agreement, or job offer that fulfills the requirements of Article 27-quater, paragraph 1 of the TUI.
- A declaration from the employer, accompanied by a copy of his ID card, stating that they have no criminal record for the past 5 years.
What is the duration of this permesso di soggiorno?
The permit is valid for one year, with the possibility of renewal.
Is family reunification allowed with this type of permit?
